Peace Works

The Mpatapo symbol is an Adinkra symbol from the West African Akan tradition which means reconciliation or peacemaking.  It  is being used to  symbolize  the peace building curriculum developed by the Peace Center using concepts from Alternative to Violence programs and African traditions of dispute resolution.  A chart describing the issues addressed by this program is below.

The Center is supporting  a summer Freedom School that engages young people from k-12 in a summer of enhancing literacy, numeracy, social justice activism, and “Peace Works”. The Mpatapo curriculum  will be used to train servant leaders and young people in the process of peace.
